Dewsbury Rams 12-58 Leigh Centurions It was once again a baking hot day at the Tetley’s Stadiums and unfortunately it was a defeat for the home side. Dewsbury started the game well, and put Leigh under pressure early on, the home side also showed some good defence early on too. However the visitors scored their first try on the 10th minute. Grassroots: Celtic defeated at St Annes
Dewsbury Celtic were the only local side in National Conference League action this past weekend, and they slipped to a 35-20 defeat away at Oldham St Annes. Try scorers for Celtic were Danny Thomas, Liam Walmsley and Billy Yarrow, who grabbed a brace. Pat Foulstone kicked two goals. The defeat leaves Celtic seventh in Division Three. Celtic have the week off from Conference action next week, but Thornhill Trojans, Shaw Cross Sharks and Dewsbury Moor all have fixtures. Mrs Bouquets Florist shop wins family ticket in business draw
Dewsbury Rams are running an initiative where businesses that put up posters to advertise Rams home fixtures will be placed in a prize draw. The third winner of the family match ticket prize is Mrs Bouquets Florist shop at the Dewsbury market. On winning the ticket, Angela Walker of Mrs Bouquets Florist said: “The posters are noticed & we are happy to support the Rams advertising initiative. Grassroots: Celtic prepare for St Annes trip, Trojans A aim to bounce back from defeat
There is an abridged National Conference League schedule in place this weekend, and just one of our local sides is in action. In Division Three, Dewsbury Celtic make the trip across the Pennines to face Oldham St Annes. The match kicks off at 2.30pm. Celtic did not have a game last Saturday; they were 50-10 winners away at Gateshead Storm on their last outing on Saturday 9th June. St Annes were beaten 36-12 away at Millom last weekend. Celtic head into the match in sixth place, having won seven matches from 11 so far this season, while St Annes are […]

Dewsbury Rams head coach Neil Kelly reflected on the 58-12 defeat to Leigh Centurions last weekend. He said: “I questioned the players desire to be professional rugby players or to be involved with sport. I thought from our point of view, we made Leigh only score really one good try. I thought the rest were avoidable and they were gifts, and you can’t give a side like Leigh gifts. “A score of 58-12 doesn’t signify strong defence.
