Shaw Cross Sharks sealed an important victory in their battle to avoid relegation from National Conference League Division One, while Thornhill Trojans produced a superb second-half display to maintain their momentum at the top of the table. The Sharks, who headed into the game bottom of the pile, produced a great performance to beat promotion-chasing Milford Marlins 23-10. Dewsbury Rams is sad to announce the death of fromer club chaplain Chris Battye, he passed away on Friday 22nd June. A message was read out at the last home game, saying: “Chris Battye was a passionate man. He was passionate about his family, passionate about his faith and passionate about his rugby league, especially the Rams. He was more than a fan, he was the club’s chaplain, with a responsibility for Player Welfare, caring for the club’s players, its managers and coaching team, its volunteers and supporters. Shaw Cross Sharks will play their first home game in more than a month when they welcome Milford Marlins to Shark Park tomorrow. The Sharks have played three consecutive away games since their last home fixture, where they were winners against Featherstone Lions on 19th May. Currently bottom of National Conference League Division One, Shaw Cross could go level on points with ninth-placed Oulton if they are able to secure victory. Dewsbury Rams head coach Neil Kelly gave his thoughts ahead of the Swinton Lions game this Sunday. The Rams are preparing to travel to Swinton in what will again be an important Betfred Championship clash. Kelly is expecting a tough game against the Lions. He said: “We have to put a polar opposite performance in than what we saw against Leigh. Dewsbury Rams were close to a second half comeback, but ended up losing the game 29-28 away at Swinton Lions on Sunday afternoon. The day started well for the Rams, who scored two quick tries to get them off the mark, Aaron Brown scored the first on the fourth minute. Dewsbury created a superb move which ended up on the left hand side, Brown danced around two Swinton players and planted the ball over the line.
