On 25th June, Dewsbury Rams were visited by a number of local schools to look around The Tetley’s Stadium. The visit to the stadium coincided with a scheme the schools have been running whereby the children learn about the structure of a stadium and how one is built. The children also got to see the many parts in which make up Dewsbury’s home arena, such as The Royal Suite, changing rooms, The Bailey Bar, The Amber Ribbon Bar and other facilities that the club provides. Dewsbury Rams were close to a second half comeback, but ended up losing the game 29-28 away at Swinton Lions on Sunday afternoon. The day started well for the Rams, who scored two quick tries to get them off the mark, Aaron Brown scored the first on the fourth minute. Dewsbury created a superb move which ended up on the left hand side, Brown danced around two Swinton players and planted the ball over the line. Shaw Cross Sharks sealed an important victory in their battle to avoid relegation from National Conference League Division One, while Thornhill Trojans produced a superb second-half display to maintain their momentum at the top of the table. The Sharks, who headed into the game bottom of the pile, produced a great performance to beat promotion-chasing Milford Marlins 23-10. Try scorers for Shaw Cross were Brandan French, Joe Halloran, Sam Ottewell and Paul March, while former Ram Shaun Squires kicked a goal and a drop-goal. Grassroots: Moor prepare for visit of Batley Boys in Cup semi-final
Dewsbury Moor will face Batley Boys on Wednesday evening in the second Jim Brown Cup Semi-Final. The winners of the match will face Thornhill Trojans in the final next month. Both sides head into the tie in good form. Moor had no game this past weekend, but they have won five of their last six National Conference League Division Two matches. Batley Boys also have plenty of momentum, having won all seven of their fixtures in the Yorkshire Mens League Premier Division so far this year.
