Dewsbury Rams can reveal that former reserve head coach Paul Mennell has joined Lee Greenwood’s coaching staff as an assistant coach. Mennell who had played for rivals Batley Bulldogs, he also represented Halifax and Doncaster. He then went into coaching and was made Rams reserve head coach in 2015. Now he’s back to help the first team. On Mennell joining Greenwood’s team, Lee said: “Paul is a great addition to the coaching staff. Dewsbury Rams can reveal it has signed highly rated hooker Reiss Butterworth for the 2021 campaign. The Betfred Super League player has decided to join the Rams to get more first team rugby. Butterworth has had a lot of Championship experience. Having come through the academy at Bradford Bulls, he played a handful of games for them in England’s second tier. Dewsbury Rams new assistant coach Paul Mennell is delighted to take up a position at the club. Once the reserve team Head Coach, Mennell now takes up an assistant role alongside Nathan Graham and Paul Sykes and will work under head coach Lee Greenwood. On returning to the Rams Mennell said: “I’ve been in contact with Lee for sometime about coming back to do some coaching. “I’ve worked with him before at Batley and Halifax and agree with his philosophies so it was an easy decision really.
