RFL’s latest update
The Rugby Football League today welcomes further Government support as part of the ‘Sport Winter Survival Package’. The support is in the form of an additional £12m loan facility to the professional game following the Government’s request that sports model the impact on their sport of the absence of spectators until possibly April 1. Chapman-Smith joins Rams
Dewsbury Rams are delighted to announce that fullback/halfback Reece Chapman-Smith has joined the club for the 2021 season. Chapman-Smith has plenty of Championship experience having played for fellow division side Halifax. The 22 year old had a good learning curve as a young player as he has come up through the ranks at Betfred Super League side Leeds Rhinos. He’ll wear the number 22 shirt for next season. On signing Chapman-Smith head coach Lee Greenwood […]

Oakes started his career in the Wakefield Trinity scholarship academy, he stayed there for a few seasons before moving to Hull KR to find first team opportunities. He moved to the Robins at the age of just 16 in 2016, and made his debut later that year. Just a year later […]

David Hyomes a history of sport in Spen Valley
Dewsbury Rams & Batley Bulldogs have made rugby league the dominant sport in their towns for over a century. Neither club has ever been amongst the most affluent but they have outlasted several heavily financed franchises & have generally been amongst the best run outfits in the game. It would probably stagger many modern day fans that Batley were the first ever winners of the Challenge Cup whilst Dewsbury played in the first ever final played at Wembley. Dewsbury were not founder members of the Northern Union ( later to become Rugby League). The Union club eventually moved to Saville […]
