RAMS TO HOST REMINISCENCE EVENT

Dewsbury Rams are set to host a Reminiscence Event on 1st October at The Tetley’s Stadium.

The event is open to Rams supporters free of charge and will be held in the Bailey Bar. Refreshments will be available and the event will start at 11am and will be likely to finish around 2pm.

The afternoon will give fans a chance to share stories about the club, the sport and their memories of the Dewsbury Rams over the years.

Looking Back Co-Founder, Allison Simpson, said: “The event in October is a celebration of all the online Rugby League Reminiscence sessions we have done since March 2020 and it marks a return to our face-to-face meetings.

“Looking Back is the network of rugby league reminiscence sessions that we have developed since starting our first club ‘Dewsbury Memories’ with the support of the Dewsbury Rams back in 2018.

“We now work with seven rugby league clubs including Dewsbury, Batley Bulldogs, Huddersfield Giants, York City Knights, Warrington Wolves, Hull KR and Whitehaven with more in the works.

“The sessions are opportunities for lifelong rugby league enthusiasts, ex-players, officials and supporters to talk about the sport with like-minded people every week.

“We welcome home and away supporters to every session. Conversations are started by people sharing their memories, memorabilia and stories about the game – people contribute as much or as little as they want – some people are happy to simply listen.

“The sessions celebrate the sporting heritage of rugby league and the social history that goes with it – for people with memory loss illnesses the sessions help them connect with their past, and enjoy the sport they have always loved.

“The face to face sessions will be starting up in all our clubs in the Autumn with this event being held on 1st October.”
