Paul Sykes Signs On for Historic 28th Season

Rams are delighted to announce that club legend and one of rugby league’s most durable athletes, Paul Sykes, has re-signed for the 2026 season. The half-back, will embark on an astonishing 28th consecutive professional season and will continue to provide invaluable experience and leadership both on and off the field as the club prepares for the Betfred Championship campaign.

The extension follows an exceptional year in 2025, during which Sykes officially broke the all-time record for consecutive professional seasons played, surpassing the long-standing mark held by the legendary Gus Risman. Sykes, who debuted for Bradford Bulls in 1999, remains a vital component of the Rams’ squad, having amassed over 550 career appearances.

Rams Head Coach Paul March spoke about securing Sykes’ services for another year:

“What more can you say about Sykesy? He is a true marvel of the game. His physical condition is a testament to his dedication, and his rugby brain is second to none.”

Sykes’ 28th season of professional rugby league will see him add to his already remarkable career statistics, which include over 1,000 points and nearly 200 appearances for the Rams.

Let’s go Sykesy 🐏
