Dewsbury Rams stands in solidarity against racism
Black lives matter – and Dewsbury Rams stands in solidarity with the sport of Rugby League, its players, coaches, fans, volunteers, staff and supporters in the struggle against racism and discrimination. As a sport we have been sharing, reflecting and we have been listening. And we will continue to listen and learn from the lived experiences of Black players, coaches, and supporters, to share ideas and to check and challenge ourselves to do more and be better. Rugby League is already a powerful force for good in many ways and this reach and care can be a powerful force in […]

David Hyomes’ Jersey Talk: #2 – winger
Last week I reckoned the most auspicious player to wear the Dewsbury number one jersey was a guy most of us had not seen play. Today I am going to give star billing in our number two shirt to someone that none of us saw play! How do I justify this? Well, here goes. As a young kid starting out on supporting Dewsbury I wanted to know all the records – how many cups and league trophies have we won? What is our record attendance? How many of our players have played for England or Yorkshire? Who holds the record […]

Rugby League – we’re on our way back
It’s been exactly three months since the last Rugby League played in England. Three long months, in which too many lives have been lost, and too many people kept apart. But now momentum is steadily building, towards the return of the sport we love – the NRL is already back in Australia, and on our TV screens, and Government guidelines have identified a way back for sport in this country, in different ways for elite and community players. Who better to sum up that prospect than Ben Taylor? Ben, for those who don’t know, is a stalwart of the Royal […]

David Hyomes’ Jersey Talk: #1 – full-back
Today we embark on an intriguing look at the most iconic occupants of the 13 starting shirts of our club. If you play at full back you are entitled to wear the number one Jersey, and that always seems to carry an extra bit of status and responsibility. I have heard many knowledgeable Rugby League people say that full back is the most difficult position to play – physically and mentally. As far as Dewsbury is concerned, I think our greatest ever full back is beyond question and yet quite remarkably very few of us will have seen him play. […]

Jack Addy memorial fundraising surpasses target
Fundraising for a Jack Addy memorial sculpture has surpassed its target. A flurry of donations in recent days from fans, coaches and players has seen the total raised climb to more than £6,500. The club would like to thank everybody who supported and promoted the campaign, whether that be through direct donations or other activities. Updates on the next steps for the project will be communicated through official club channels in the weeks ahead. You may still make a donation to the fund by clicking here.

Day shares hopes for playing return following fundraising efforts
As many supporters will have noticed, Dewsbury Rams hooker Sam Day has kept himself busy during the lockdown period by raising money for worthy causes. Day, who has become a fans’ favourite at the club since first joining on loan in 2017, is using his time away from the game to keep fit by running half-marathons. He said: “I wanted to stay fit during lockdown so I’ve been out running. “And whilst out running I thought I could mix it up and raise some money for charity, and run half a marathon every day until lockdown finished. “But then I […]
