The Rugby Football League today welcomes further Government support as part of the ‘Sport Winter Survival Package’. The support is in the form of an additional £12m loan facility to the professional game following the Government’s request that sports model the impact on their sport of the absence of spectators until possibly April 1. The RFL continues to work with Sport England in terms of specific support for Community Rugby League, including Women’s and Girls’ Rugby League, building on the considerable assistance already received. Dewsbury Rams are delighted to announce that fullback/halfback Reece Chapman-Smith has joined the club for the 2021 season. Chapman-Smith has plenty of Championship experience having played for fellow division side Halifax. He also has a connection to the club as his dad Chris Chapman was also a professional player and represented the Rams in his career. The 22 year old had a good learning curve as a young player as he has come up through the ranks at Betfred Super League side Leeds Rhinos. He’ll wear the number 22 shirt for next season. Dewsbury Rams can reveal it has signed highly rated hooker Reiss Butterworth for the 2021 campaign. The Betfred Super League player has decided to join the Rams to get more first team rugby. Butterworth has had a lot of Championship experience. Having come through the academy at Bradford Bulls, he played a handful of games for them in England’s second tier. The 21 year old had a loan spell in 2018 at Batley Bulldogs before signing for Super League side Huddersfield Giants.
