The first ever Rugby League Weekend
Next spring we hope to see our beloved Dewsbury Rams taking part in the 1895 Cup – 1895 was of course the year when our great game was born. Rebel clubs from Yorkshire & Lancashire quit the Rugby Football Union to form the Northern Union which quickly became Rugby League. Just recently I stumbled across a full set of results from the first ever weekend of our great sport. Absolutely fascinating to see which of those founder members still exist & just as intriguing to see that only one of the venues used on that day still stages Rugby League. […]

Chapman-Smith and Whiteley raise money for MND
Once again it’s great to see Dewsbury Rams players raising money for charity. This time new player Reece Chapman-Smith and former player Harvey Whiteley climbed Scafel Pike in a bid to raise money for the MND association in honour of their former Leeds Rhinos coach Rob Burrow. They completed the walk with the rest of the 2018 Leeds Rhinos academy team. So far they have raised a fantastic £2.275. Well done to all involved. Leigh Centurions will play in Betfred Super League in 2021 following the unanimous decision of an independent panel led by Lord Caine. Six applications were received by the November 30 deadline and the panel considered those on the following criteria: Enhance the commercial value of the Super League to broadcast and sponsorship partners of Super League Europe; Deliver value to other members of Super League; Be […]

RFL Statement
The Prime Minister’s announcement of a new National Lockdown for England on Monday night will impact on Rugby League, as all other sports and sections of society, in a number of ways. Community Rugby League, which had been due to resume at Youth and Open Age level in January, is now required to be suspended under Government rules. The RFL will be contacting Community Clubs and whilst recognising that the priority remains the public health emergency, will continue to stress to Government, working with other sports, the importance of team sports in terms of the nation’s mental and physical fitness, and the […]
