Championship Matters
Well the wait is over, after weeks of friendly games, starting last year on Boxing Day for some teams, the 2020 Betfred Championship season is almost upon us. Below is a preview of Round 1 games this weekend. Let’s hope for an exciting season! Dewsbury Rams start the season off with a tricky tie against Leigh Centurions. The Rams had a moral boosting victory over the Bradford Bulls in their last pre-season game two weeks ago, whilst the Leigh Centurions come to the Tetley’s Stadium with a 12 – 6 victory over a youthful Wigan Warriors side. The Centurions have […]

SUMMERS’ SPORTS: And you don’t bring me Flowers anymore
Well isn’t this just the most magical time of the year? Nope, I’m not talking about these post-Brexit days where we can all look forward to eating a bendy banana! I’m talking about the start of the Rugby League season. The first game of the season is the only game where all rugby fans can unite in the hope that their team will fair better than last season – unless, of course, you were one of the relatively few fans who experienced either a Grand Final win or promotion success. Let’s cherish every moment folks…the season might not start as […]

A thank you from Chairman Mark Sawyer
Dewsbury are very grateful for the assistance from Bradford Bulls volunteers & staff especially over the last couple of weeks when there has been two games, including Dewsbury’s home friendly. Bradford have helped in launching a pre-match meal for the Rams, which we are hoping will take off. Like Dewsbury, Bradford have a good number of dedicated volunteers. Both Clubs couldn’t run without them. Dewsbury would like to thank their own volunteers who have helped Bradford, especially yesterday at the Bulls first home game versus York Knights game. Mark Sawyer said “It is great to see everyone at Dewsbury & […]

GRASSROOTS: Thornhill get big Challenge Cup tie
CORAL CHALLENGE CUP SECOND ROUND THORNHILL TROJANS 58 NORMANTON KNIGHTS 14 This scoreline will have sent tremors throughout the world of amateur rugby league – no surprise that Thornhill won but the margin of victory was mightily impressive. Those responsible for plucking the balls from the bag have hardly given the Trojans an easy ride bearing in mind this victory followed a first round triumph over National Conference League high fliers Thatto Heath. Normanton do not give anybody an easy ride – their ground is not called The Graveyard for nothing! Sadly the Knights winger Charlie Barker suffered a serious leg […]
