Grassroots: Trojans record big win, Sharks and Moor beaten
Thornhill Trojans’ superb run in National Conference League Division One continued with a 54-0 win against Pikington Recs. The Trojans crossed for nine tries in total, including braces for George Woodcock and Liam Morley and further tries from Danny Ratcliffe, Anthony Harris, Declan Tomlinson, Joel Gibson and George Scott. Gibson kicked nine conversions. Shaw Cross travelled to face Skirlaugh with a heavily-depleted squad due to injuries and other enforced absences. Three of our four local National Conference League sides are in action on Saturday. In Division One, Thornhill Trojans will be out to continue their excellent run of form when they welcome Pilkington Recs to Overthorpe Park. Recs defeated Shaw Cross Sharks last week, while Trojans were winners over Ince Rose Bridge. The Sharks will be aiming to bounce back from last week’s defeat when they travel to face Skirlaugh. Skirlaugh have won five from nine matches this season and were winners against Oulton Raiders last week. In Division Two, Dewsbury Moor at home to Stanningley in a top of […]
Grassroots: Celtic juniors take part in memorial festival
Dewsbury Celtic’s under-7s and under-9s teams will take part in a mini Rugby League festival in memory of former Huddersfield Giants player Ronan Costello. The festival will be held at Leeds Road playing fields this evening, between 6.00pm and 8.00pm, in celebration of Ronan’s life. More than 150 children from community clubs across Kirklees and other surrounding areas will participate at under-7s, under-8s and under-9s age groups. The tournament will raise money for Yorkshire Air Ambulance, with all participating teams making a donation to the cause. Toronto Wolfpack 64-12 Dewsbury Rams Dewsbury Rams were defeated by Toronto Wolfpack in Canada, and although it was a heavy loss the Rams players did all they could in front of the teams traveling support. The game started off well for the Rams, putting their hosts under early pressure, and it wasn’t until the 8th minute when the Trans-Atlantic team grabbed their first try.
