Grassroots: Funeral for odds-defying amateur player takes place today
The funeral for a much-loved and respected former local amateur Rugby League player takes place today. David Roebuck passed away earlier this month at the age of 60, more than 35 years after he suffered devastating spinal injuries while playing for the Heavy Woollen district team. England Rugby League kit and training wear launched
The new England Rugby League kit and training wear has today been unveiled (Monday, June 18) ahead of the International Test match against New Zealand Kiwis in Denver, Colorado. The official kit, which is white with red detailing, has been designed and produced by Danish sportswear brand, hummel and features their iconic chevron pattern across both shoulders of the shirt, shorts and socks. England Rugby League principal partner Dacia takes pride of place on the front of the shirt and Kingstone Press Cider feature on the upper back. Toronto Wolfpack 64-12 Dewsbury Rams Dewsbury Rams were defeated by Toronto Wolfpack in Canada, and although it was a heavy loss the Rams players did all they could in front of the teams traveling support. The game started off well for the Rams, putting their hosts under early pressure, and it wasn’t until the 8th minute when the Trans-Atlantic team grabbed their first try. Thornhill Trojans’ superb run in National Conference League Division One continued with a 54-0 win against Pikington Recs. The Trojans crossed for nine tries in total, including braces for George Woodcock and Liam Morley and further tries from Danny Ratcliffe, Anthony Harris, Declan Tomlinson, Joel Gibson and George Scott. Gibson kicked nine conversions. Shaw Cross travelled to face Skirlaugh with a heavily-depleted squad due to injuries and other enforced absences.
