Wardill retires from Rugby League
Dewsbury Rams can confirm that player Joe Wardill has again been forced to retire from the game of rugby League. Head coach Lee Greenwood explains: “It’s a real shame for Joe and us. He came into pre-season pain free and was looking good in training but over the last couple months his hip problems have resurfaced. “I’m sure we could have managed him in order to play the odd game but we need to think about his health and wellbeing going forward. As sad as it is for him, he has made the right decision and this will allow him […]

RIP Kevin Osborne and Jeff Grayshon- David Hyomes remembers two legends
Two players who made major contributions to Dewsbury have sadly passed away in recent days. Firstly Kevin Osborne When I first started watching Dewsbury he was a star of a team who reached two Challenge Cup Semi Finals & made Crown Flatt a feared place for opposing teams to travel to. Even as the years pass quickly by you never forget your first heroes – Kevin played alongside the likes of Bob Hirst, Geoff Marsh, Alvyn Newall & Dick Lowe. He also played alongside his great friend Brian Firth. Those two didn’t just play for Dewsbury together, they also worked […]

Greenwood reviews Whitehaven cup defeat
Dewsbury Rams were knocked out of the first round of the Challenge Cup. Defeated 23-16 by Whitehaven up in Cumbria on Saturday evening. Head coach Lee Greenwood gave his reaction to the disappointing loss. He said: “The performance was awful and the result was not what we wanted obviously. There were so many uncharacteristic mistakes from lots of players. There aren’t really any positives to take. “It was poor, we were soft in places, no composure and there were so many dropped balls. “There are two weeks now where lads can fight to get into this team. Some players must […]

Dewsbury Rams can announce that when they play Bradford Bulls in the Championship they will be competing for the Jeff Grayshon Trophy. This is in remembrance and recognition of the Rugby League legend following his sad passing this week. Jeff made 235 starts and 2 substitute appearances in our colours, he scored 31 tries for the club between 1970-1978. He will be fondly remembered by everyone connected with the club. He then went on to play for Bradford Northern 1979-85, and […]
