Dewsbury Rams centre Matty Fleming was very pleased to get on the score sheet twice last Saturday. Fleming grabbed two tries in our first Betfred Championship fixture at home to Whitehaven. On scoring both tries he said: “It is always nice to get over the line and score and get off the nudey but I was just happy to contribute to a good team win. Dewsbury Rams head coach Lee Greenwood has give his thoughts following our win over Whitehaven on Saturday. Dewsbury came out as victors beating the Cumbrian club 17-8 on the night. After the game he said: “It was a really tough fixture. Anyone who plays Whitehaven will need to be right on their game to beat them. “We knew we needed to improve after the defeat in the cup. Dewsbury Rams got their Betfred Championship season off to the best start possible as they beat Whitehaven on Saturday night. The Rams had been defeated and knocked out of the Challenge Cup by the Cumbrian club two weeks ago. However Lee Greenwood’s men put in a much better performance and eventually came out the victors. It was Whitehaven who scored first on the evening. Lachlan Walmsley managed to cross the whitewash in the left corner to put the away side 4-0 up. After over one year without any meaningful Championship rugby league action to enjoy, the wait is finally over. For the time being, we can only enjoy these games with the OURLEAGUE app, but hopefully very soon normal service will resume, fingers crossed. The Rams match is on Saturday evening at home against Whitehaven. Hopefully we can start the season with the win and the all important two points. My own opinion is Easter is the perfect time to start the new season, instead of the last week of January when under normal circumstances the season would have commenced. The action […]
