Grassroots: Celtic juniors take part in memorial festival
Dewsbury Celtic’s under-7s and under-9s teams will take part in a mini Rugby League festival in memory of former Huddersfield Giants player Ronan Costello. The festival will be held at Leeds Road playing fields this evening, between 6.00pm and 8.00pm, in celebration of Ronan’s life. More than 150 children from community clubs across Kirklees and other surrounding areas will participate at under-7s, under-8s and under-9s age groups. The tournament will raise money for Yorkshire Air Ambulance, with all participating teams making a donation to the cause. Grassroots: Sharks assistant hails commitment, despite defeat
Shaw Cross Sharks assistant coach Wayne Stead hailed the commitment of the players, despite an ultimately heavy defeat away at Pilkington Recs on Saturday. Three of our four local National Conference League sides are in action on Saturday. In Division One, Thornhill Trojans will be out to continue their excellent run of form when they welcome Pilkington Recs to Overthorpe Park. Recs defeated Shaw Cross Sharks last week, while Trojans were winners over Ince Rose Bridge. The Sharks will be aiming to bounce back from last week’s defeat when they travel to face Skirlaugh.
