Thoughts from the Chaplain, Major Cliff Allchin
This morning at 7.45am (GMT) radio stations all across Europe joined together and played a classic song from the charts in the 1960s. I don’t know if you heard it at all, but it is a song that I personally have sung many times. Sometimes I have sung it in a time of victory, at others in times of defeat. I have sung it as an anthem to the fallen, and as a song of hope for those who have been left behind. And this morning as the words and music echoed through my house, I sang again that song […]

A message from RFL president Tony Adams
Dear All, The Rugby League season is suspended for a time; but the sport will be back – as authentic and entertaining as ever for fans on the terraces and watching on TV. I will be there with you all cheering on the players and celebrating its return. In the meantime, we are all deeply concerned about Covid-19 Coronavirus. Especially for our family members and friends with health issues. I am concerned that these uncertain times and increased fear and anxiety are impacting on many people’s mental fitness. As well as taking responsibility for reducing the spread of the virus […]

Chairman Mark Sawyer on Radio Leeds
Dewsbury Rams chairman Mark Sawyer was recently live on BBC radio Leeds talking to James Deighton about the current situation in the sport of rugby league. Q-JD: How bad is it at your particular club right now? Mark: “I am involved in a couple of clubs and it’s pretty desperate. Still on the cheerful theme & there were fine wins for Thornhill Trojans & Dewsbury Celtic who now top their respective divisions. Shaw Cross Sharks also tasted victory. Thornhill came back from a 12 – 6 deficit at Milford in Division One to clinch a nail biting 13 – 12 triumph. Casey […]

My Story- getting to know Adam Ryder
Dewsbury Rams centre Adam Ryder has become a firm fans favourite at the club. The 30 year old has provided the Rams faithful with some happy memories over the last two years having scored plenty of tries in the process. We wanted to get to know the Adam Ryder on and off the field a bit more. First memory of rugby? “I was 10 year old being a mascot at the Galpharm stadium in the RL world cup, where it was Australia vs Wales. We played a 10 minute game at half time.” Debut for any club? “My first ever […]
