Rovers score thirteen tries on a difficult day for the Rams at the Millennium Stadium. On a sweltering day at the Millennium Stadium, the Rams faced one of their toughest tests of the season up against promotion chasing Featherstone Rovers. The home side showed the reason why they are in the two almost immediately as they ran in four tries in the first twenty-five minutes, with scores from Craig Hall, Gadwin Springer, Craig Kopczak and Jonathon Ford, all of which Hall converted. SYKES MAKES 500TH FIRST-CLASS CAREER APPEARANCE
Everybody at Dewsbury Rams would like to congratulate Paul Sykes who reached his milestone 500th first-class career appearance on Sunday against York. Sykes started off his professional career with Bradford Bulls and made his professional as an eighteen-year-old on 2nd July 1999 against Wakefield Trinity Wildcats. He made several appearances during the late nineties/ early noughties but found opportunities hard to come by and had several stints on loan with London Broncos, before making the move to the capital permanent in August 2002. A much-improved performance by the Rams at the Tetley’s Stadium but York get the two points. On a day when Paul Sykes made his 500th first-class appearance, the Rams were going to need a much-improved performance on last week’s Summer Bash effort to be in with a chance of getting anything against a York side who were aiming to move up to fifth. The opening half an hour of the game was tense with both sides struggling to create any sort of chances, both sides had good spells of pressure on the opposition line but couldn’t break through. Tickets for our upcoming clash against Batley Bulldogs on Bank Holiday Monday are now on sale with free entry for under 18’s! The latest instalment of the Heavy Woollen Derby which will take place on Monday 29th August (19:45) is live on Premier Sports and as part of the promotion for the game we will be allowing free entry to all under 18’s. Adult tickets start from £18 and Concessions from £13, tickets can be bought either in advance here or at the turnstile (proof of age maybe required).
