Grassroots: Sharks host touch tournament on Saturday
Shaw Cross Sharks will host a Touch Tournament in support of State of Mind on Saturday. State of Mind is a charity that harnesses the power of sport to promote positive mental health among our sportsmen and women, fans and wider communities, and ultimately to prevent suicide. The tournament is for players, coaches, volunteers and parents. Entry is £5 per player. The matches are six-a-side with unlimited subs, while there must be a minimum of two female players on the field at all times. Interested players are advised to meet at 11am. Rams confirm date for Presentation Night
Dewsbury Rams’ annual Presentation Night will be held in The Royal Suite at The Tetley’s Stadium on Thursday 27th September. The event will start at 7.30pm and tickets are available for just £5. Tickets can be purchased through club reception during office hours and will also be on sale in The Royal Suite following the upcoming home matches against Swinton Lions and Barrow Raiders, through club volunteer Ady Marsh, Guests can enjoy a bite to eat from the buffet, while refreshments will also be available to purchase from the bar. Grassroots: Trojans Ladies make coaching appointment
Thornhill Trojans Ladies have appointed Craig Taylor as their new head coach. Taylor was head coach of the Batley Bulldogs under-15s team that made history when it toured Australia in 2015 and arrives with a wealth of experience. Taylor will be assisted in the role by Mark Mitchell. The team will commence pre-season training in the coming weeks, and players new and old will be welcome to attend. Training days and times will be announced on the Trojans Ladies’ Facebook page.
Toulouse trip stands us in good stead, says Kelly
Rams boss Neil Kelly believes the team’s performance in Toulouse stands them in good stead for a positive Super 8s campaign. “We’ll play Leigh, Swinton and Barrow at home and Rochdale, Featherstone, Sheffield and Batley away and I think if we show the spirit we showed last Saturday, and get a few bodies back, we are in good shape,” he told the Yorkshire Evening Post. “You go into games like that thinking the longer you can make it a contest the more pressure there is on them and it worked out that way. “I was quite pleased. Hanging Heaton have appointed Christopher Brown as their new head coach. Brown will be assisted on the coaching staff by former player Darren Addison. Training ahead of the Green and Golds’ upcoming Pennine League campaign commenced yesterday. Hanging Heaton were League and Cup winners last term and Brown will be tasked with delivering more success in the months ahead. Thornhill Trojans will aim to keep their pursuit of top spot on track when they travel to face Milford Marlins on Saturday. The National Conference League Division One fixture will be televised by FreeSports and kick off at 5.35pm.
