Betfred have secured the Rugby League “Double” for 2021, with a one-year deal to become title sponsors of the Challenge Cup to add to their long-running partnership with the Super League. It means the Betfred Challenge Cup winners will be crowned at Wembley in July, with the Betfred Super League trophy to be presented at Old Trafford in October. The deal also includes sponsorship of the Women’s Challenge Cup, completing another double with the Betfred Women’s Super League. RFL BOARD RATIFY LAWS FOR THE 2021 SEASON
The RFL Board today ratified recommendations from the RFL Laws Committee for the 2021 season. The Laws Committee held a virtual meeting on January 20 and received presentations regarding the Covid pandemic and head contact and concussion. The Committee also heard from NRL Head of Elite Competitions, Graham Annesley, about the new laws to be introduced in the NRL competition for 2021. The emergency law introduced for the restart of the 2020 season in July, in response to the situation regarding Covid-19 – removing scrums and replacing them with a handover of possession – will be retained (with the shot […]

Rugby League’s progress towards becoming a truly inclusive sport will be driven by a new RFL Inclusion Board announced today (2 February). The board has been established as part of the game-wide commitment to diversity, inclusion, and anti-discrimination campaigning, announced last Autumn. Its members are drawn from a wide range of backgrounds such as education, media, business and retail, and include well-known Rugby League personalities Michael Lawrence of Huddersfield Giants and Alex Simmons, formerly of Rugby AM and currently head of diversity with the Leeds-based Inter-Marketing Agency.
