BULLS BEAT RAMS

Rams beaten by Bulls at Bartercard Odsal Stadium.

After Sunday’s disappointing defeat at FLAIR Stadium against Whitehaven RLFC, the Rams were back on the road to face the high-flying Bradford Bulls at Bartercard Odsal Stadium.

The Bulls started well and had all the early pressure with only a fantastic tackle by Jack Billington stopping a certain try for Jayden Okunbor within the first five minutes.

The next ten minutes were back and forth but it was the home side who went ahead when a high ball wasn’t dealt with at the back and Daniel Smith went in under the posts.

Once again the Rams battled hard and were well in the game, but it was the Bulls who got the next points just before the break when Tom Holmes collected a grubber in his own in-goal area and ran the length of the field to score.

At the start of the second half, Franklin Pele bulldozed his way over from close range, which was followed by another Bradford try, this time for Tyran Ott. Pele then crashed over for his second try of the evening just before the hour mark.

To make matters worse for the Rams, Paul Sykes was sent to the sin bin for back chat which was swiftly followed up with a Bradford try as Ebon Scurr scored shortly after.

Romain Franco scored in the corner with just under ten minutes left and then scored his second just moments later when a short kick off was collected by the Frenchman who ran through the Rams defence to score.

Just as the final hooter was about to sound Keven Appo went over for Bradford’s ninth try of the evening.

After the game Rams Head Coach Paul March said “I think the first half we showed a lot of grit especially given the week that they’ve had, but the big fellas of Bradford have made their make in the second half and there was only one winner then.”

Our next game sees us travel to the Shay to face Halifax Panthers on Sunday 8th September, kick off 15:00.
