TRINITY BEAT RAMS

Rams battle hard but beaten by Wakefield Trinity at FLAIR Stadium.

After last Saturday’s defeat in France against Toulouse Olympique, the Rams returned to FLAIR Stadium to face high-flying Wakefield Trinity.

The Rams started brightly and incredibly got the first points on the board when Perry Whiteley finished off a lovely flowing move in the corner.

However, it didn’t take long for the visitors to get themselves level when ex-Ram Max Jowitt span over from close range.

Elliot Morris was then sent to the bin for an off the ball incident and shortly after Harvey Smith put Wakefield in front after a quick scoot from dummy half.

Wakefield’s strength started to show towards the end of the first half as they got quick fire double before the break. First Ky Rodwell crashed over and then another ex-Ram Derrell Olpherts scored in the corner.

Just after the break Zeus Silk got the Rams back in the game, scoring on his debut after a lovely late offload by Jacob Hookem.

But Trinity managed to answer back scoring another quick fire double, Max Jowitt scoring his second of the afternoon from a scrum on the Rams’ ten metre line and then Oliver Pratt capitalised on a knock-on to score.

With time running down on the clock, Toby Boothroyd added another try for Trinity to score and Jowitt crossed to complete his hat-trick.

The Rams managed to get the final score of the game though, Lewis Carr pouncing on a loose Wakefield pass to score his fifth of the season.

After the game, Head Coach Paul March said, “I’m very proud with the effort of the lads out there today, I thought first half we started the game well, our contact was good and we caused a full time team some problems at times. I don’t think that the scoreline reflects the game and the amount of effort that we put in.”
