BULLS BEAT RAMS

Rams beaten by high-flying Bulls at FLAIR Stadium.

After a poor result in Cumbria against Whitehaven last weekend, the Rams returned to FLAIR Stadium to face a tough test in the form of high-flying Bradford Bulls.

It was a solid start by the Rams who started brightly with a spell of sustained pressure on the Bradford line, which sadly they couldn’t convert into points.

The Bulls got the scoring underway through Max Lehmann when he touched down in the corner following a offload. Zac Fulton then got the second Bradford try of the afternoon after cutting through a gap in the Rams defence.

However, the Rams then did get the score that their early hard work deserved when Owen Restall got his fifth of the season after some great Rams handling presented him with the opportunity out wide.

But the visitors went in with a ten-point lead at the break thanks to a try from Zac Fulton who scored his second of the afternoon after wriggling free from a tackle.

Just five minutes into the second half, new Bulls signing Franklin Pele was sent to the sin-bin for a high shot on Jimmy Beckett, who returned to the field for Dewsbury after passing a HIA.

This actually seemed to spur on the visitors who then scored two quick fire tries, first Jordan Lilley got one after spotting a gap in the Rams’ defence, followed shortly after by Tom Holmes who escaped a few Rams’ tackles to score.

The Bulls got two more tries shortly after, John Davies scored after an offload close to the line and then Mitch Souter grabbed a try after a scoot from dummy half.

Dewsbury did however complete the scoring when Ronan Dixon grabbed a consolation with the game coming to a close after a good burst over the line from close range.

After the game, Head Coach Paul March said, “I think there’s a lot more positives to come from today than there is negatives, I thought our contact areas, especially in the first half were really good, but obviously when you’re tackling the big boys for eighty minutes it takes its toll and I think they won the energy battle in the end.”

It’s back at FLAIR Stadium next Sunday to face Doncaster RLFC, with kick-off at 15:00.
