WHITEHAVEN BEAT RAMS

Rams woes continue after another defeat on the road at Whitehaven.

After last week’s heavy home defeat against York Knights, the Rams faced a tough trip up to Cumbria to face Whitehaven RLFC.

It was the hosts who took an early lead when Whitehaven winger Gideon Boafo pounced on a loose ball to score the first points of the afternoon. Boafo then doubled his tally for the afternoon finishing off a well worked move from a Whitehaven scrum ten metres out.

Jack Billington then got the first Rams score in over 225 minutes after a lovely short pass by Kieran Rush gifted him the opportunity. The Rams then went ahead thanks to a try from Curtis Davies who wriggled his way over after a brilliant offload from Ronan Dixon, a lead which they’d hold until half time.

Whitehaven got the first score of the second half after Guy Graham went over from close range. Noah High added another shortly after for the home side. Edene Gebbie then finished off a flowing Whitehaven move to all but seal the game with twenty minutes remaining.

The home side weren’t finished with their scoring as Noah High crossed for his second, before Rams fullback Calum Turner was sent to the sin-bin for dissent.

Shortly after Ryan King then finished off the scoring for Whitehaven with a burst from five metres out. The Rams finished the match with just eleven players on the field after Kieran Rush was yellow carded for dissent with just over five minutes to go.

After the game Rams Head Coach Paul March said “A game of two halves out there today, I thought in the first half we played very well with our backs against the wall and we managed to get ourselves in front, but in that second half it’s just not been good enough at all.”

Our next game sees us face Bradford Bulls back at FLAIR Stadium on Sunday 30th June in the Betfred Championship, with kick off at 15:00.
