We are delighted to announce that Paul Sykes has re-signed for the Rams for the 2023 season!
As mentioned at last night’s Fans Forum, Sykes, who made his debut for Bradford Bulls in 1999 aged seventeen, has agreed to stay with the club for 2023 for his twenty-fifth season in professional rugby league.
The former Great Britain and England international has a wealth of Super League and Championship experience, having made his 500th first-class rugby league appearance last season against York City Knights.
Since joining the Rams in 2016 he has become a fan’s favourite, playing over one hundred and fifty times and scoring over eight hundred points. At September’s Presentation Night, Sykes took home both the Amber Ribbon and Supporter’s Player of the Year Award.
On re-signing for next year Sykes said “I’m happy to have signed on again for next season and look forward to helping us get back to the Championship. I’ve still got my hunger and passion for the game and will give my all for the team.”
Head Coach Liam Finn said “Sykesy needs no introduction and we’re happy to have him for another season. His experience will be valuable for the whole squad but especially our young pivots.
I look forward to working with Paul again, probably one of the toughest players I played with as you can see with him playing on again into his forties, which is an unbelievable achievement.”
