Dewsbury Rams can today confirm that Chris Annakin has retired from Rugby League with immediate effect on medical advice.
Annakin, who joined the Rams permanently in 2020 following previous loan spells with the club, played forty-three times, making thirty-five starts and scoring one try. He started his career at Wakefield Trinity making seventy-eight appearances for the Super League side and also played for Workington, Featherstone and London.
This season Chris has had an on-going injury issue which has required him to seek specialist advice and go through multiple assessments, unfortunately the medical advice has meant that he has had to retire from the game with immediate effect.
The club has supported Chris throughout this process and are disappointed to lose a player of his calibre from the squad. The club will continue to support Chris in the future along with help from Rugby League Cares.
We would like to wish Chris all the very best for the future.
