We are delighted to announce that Reiss Butterworth has re-signed for the Rams for the 2023 season!
The 22-year-old Hooker, who has been the stand-in captain over recent weeks has committed to the club for next season as we aim to get promotion back to the Championship. Since signing from Huddersfield Giants ahead of the 2021 season, Butterworth has made thirty-seven appearances, scoring five tries.
On re-signing Butterworth said, “I’m really excited to have signed a new deal for next season, which will be my third season at the club, I have enjoyed my time so far and I’m looking forward to rebuilding and trying to help the club get back up into the Championship where we belong.
I’m looking forward to continuing learning from Finny and Casper and heading into 2023 we will start as we mean to go on. We will get the opportunity to right a few wrongs from this year and it all starts with getting a big pre-season under our belts.”
Head Coach Liam Finn added, “I’m delighted that Reiss is going to stay with us for next season, over the past six weeks or so he’s been one of our standout players and he’s turned down offers from Championship clubs to stay with us so that’s great news. I’ve also got to say thank you to Squadbuilder who have made this possible for the club.”
Richard Waddington from Squadbuilder said “Squadbuilder is delighted to have been able to contribute to the re-signing of Reiss Butterworth, a player who will be integral in our campaign to return to the Championship.
Squadbuilder looks forward to working with Liam to build our squad ahead of the 2023 season, if you would like to join us and help shape the squad for the new season you can find more details here. Remember every penny raised goes directly to player recruitment.”
