Rovers score thirteen tries on a difficult day for the Rams at the Millennium Stadium.
On a sweltering day at the Millennium Stadium, the Rams faced one of their toughest tests of the season up against promotion chasing Featherstone Rovers.
The home side showed the reason why they are in the two almost immediately as they ran in four tries in the first twenty-five minutes, with scores from Craig Hall, Gadwin Springer, Craig Kopczak and Jonathon Ford, all of which Hall converted.
The Rams had a couple of chances to score in and amongst the Featherstone tries and eventually did when a short ball from Paul Sykes split the Featherstone defence and Keenen Tomlinson went over for his second of the season. The home side still managed to add one more before the break through Luke Briscoe, giving them a twenty-four-point lead at half-time.
Unfortunately for the Rams, the home side didn’t let up during the second half and added further scores from: Junior Moors, Craig Hall (x2), Joey Leillua, Tom Lineham, Sam Eseh and Luke Briscoe. To rub further salt in to the wounds Connor Jones scored as the full-time hooter sounded and Luke Cooper converted to bring a dreadful afternoon to a close.
After the game Rams Head Coach Liam Finn said “That wasn’t good enough today, Featherstone were outstanding and they barely made an error and defended tough, they wouldn’t let us out. At some points, it looked like men against boys and some of our boys just aren’t at that level.”
