RAMS TO HOST SCHOOLS TOURNAMENT

Dewsbury Rams are delighted to announce that we will be holding a tournament for local schools to celebrate the Rugby League World Cup.

Taking place on Friday 15th July at the Tetley’s Stadium, we will be hosting an all-day tournament which will involve eight local schools battling it out for the trophy. The tag competition is for under 11 girls and aims to introduce young girls to the sport as well as raise awareness of the club within the community and the opportunities and facilities that are available.

The tournament is a collaborative effort involving representatives from Dewsbury Rams, Kirklees Everybody Active Team, Community Connect, Kirklees Council, Local Amateur Clubs and Manor Croft Academy. Schools are currently being contacted by a member of the Community Connect Team and several have already signed up to take part. All teams competing in the tournament will then be invited to our home game against Leigh Centurions which will take place two days later, on Sunday 17th July.

The Rugby League World Cup is the pinnacle major event of rugby league, globally contested every four years. RLWC2021 will be a breakthrough moment in the tournament’s history with the men’s, women’s and wheelchair competitions being staged together for the first time, the action gets underway in Newcastle on 15th October when England face Samoa.
