Head Coach Lee Greenwood has given his thoughts ahead of tomorrow’s Betfred Championship clash against Workington Town.
Reflecting on our recent defeat against Batley, Greenwood said “I thought we were very good for our eight-point lead with fifty minutes gone, but the sin-binning totally changed the game. Thirteen versus thirteen I think we’d have had a very good chance of getting something from the game, but once again a yellow card, that the disciplinary panel haven’t even given a caution for has cost us. That might sound like an excuse, but this is the third time it’s happened to us this season.”
On our opponents, Greenwood said, “Workington have had some really tough fixtures and have struggled so far but they’ve got a couple of players back and have brought in some players on loan, Will Tate who we had here for the Leigh game is one. They played well in their last game against Whitehaven and Chris will be getting his side up for tomorrow and I’ve no doubt he’ll be confident after their win against us in the cup earlier this year.”
Greenwood had some updates on the squad named for tomorrow’s clash “We’ve had a couple of changes to the squad this weekend, unfortunately Ben Blackmore is out with concussion, but we have brought Luis Johnson in on dual registration from Hull KR. Aaron Hall has gone on dual registration with North Wales as he needs to be getting some game time.”
“We realise how important this game is in terms of where we’re at in the league table and we know that if we’re at our best then we can win. As a group we feel as if we’re going in the right direction and have put in some improved performances over the last few weeks.”
