MINUTE’S SILENCE AHEAD OF WORKINGTON GAME

Prior to kick-off at Sunday’s game against Workington Town, we will be holding a minute’s silence to remember former Dewsbury players, Harry Beverley and Leon Williamson.

Harry Beverley was an athletic prop forward who was much admired amongst Dewsbury fans. Harry joined the club in 1971 and played for six years, playing a key part in the 1973 Championship winning side.  After leaving Dewsbury, Harry went on to play Workington, making 94 appearances over two spells as well as spending four years at Fulham RLFC. Harry had been battling a long illness and sadly passed on 29th March aged 74.

Leon Williamson was a fantastic winger who represented Dewsbury over 100 times scoring 31 tries during his two spells with the club. Throughout his career Leon also played for Gateshead, Sheffield and Batley. Leon died suddenly aged 47 at the beginning of this month. A GoFundMe page has been set up by former Dewsbury and Batley player Danny Maun for Leon’s family to help them at this difficult time, this can be accessed here.

We will also be remembering lifelong supporters John Kellett who passed away on 7th March and Geoff Hepworth who passed away on 9th April.

All will be sadly missed and the club offers it condolences to all friends and family.
