GREENWOOD’S THOUGHTS AHEAD OF LEIGH

Head Coach Lee Greenwood has given his thoughts ahead of tomorrow’s Betfred Championship clash against Leigh Centurions.

Speaking about our defeat against Newcastle Thunder, Greenwood said “I definitely saw some improvements against Newcastle, I thought we looked better in defence and I thought we had some good play with ball in hand, showing real attacking intent. Matty and Paul worked well in the halves and there were some other good performances around the team. Unfortunately on the day it was some poor refereeing decisions that cost us in that first half, we only conceded one try with thirteen men and that was an interception.”

On our opponents Leigh, Greenwood said “They’re a really strong team with no real weaknesses, they’re a full-time team with some real good players and it’s no secret they’ve invested heavily. We know it’s going to be difficult and their playing style is really tough, they’ll try to get on top of us and grind us down for 80 minutes.”

Greenwood also spoke about the squad announced for Friday’s game “We’re down to the 21 players that we’ve selected for the squad, we’re having no luck this season at all with injuries. We’ve got Will Tate in on dual-registration from Hull KR, he’s been down and trained with the lads so we’re looking to see how he’ll do for us. It’s going to be really difficult for us but we’ve got to go and be positive and give a good performance.”
