BLACKMORE JOINS RAMS

Dewsbury Rams are pleased to announce the signing of 29-year-old former Featherstone and Sheffield winger Ben Blackmore.

Blackmore who most recently played for Featherstone Rovers has joined the Rams until the end of the 2022 season. He has a vast amount of experience at Championship level with two stints at Featherstone sandwiched in between a four-year spell with Sheffield Eagles, where he scored 49 tries and helped the Eagles to victory in the inaugural 1895 Cup at Wembley.

On the signing, Head Coach Lee Greenwood said “He’s a good signing for us, we’ve been after proven Championship or above quality players, so any time somebody comes up we try and act if they tick all the boxes which Ben does. Whenever I’ve watched him as an opposition coach, he’s always been a handful, a real strong player who scores plenty of tries, he’s 29 so he’s in his prime and he can add an experienced voice in the dressing room. Unfortunately, he’s had no pre-season, so whilst he’s looked after himself it’s going to take him a few games to get up to speed.”

Greenwood added “I’d just like to thank all of those who contribute to the Squadbuilder for contributing to the signing of Ben, we know that they work hard behind the scenes, so a big thanks to them for making this happen.”
