Dewsbury Rams centre Jason Walton was like a kid in a sweet shop when he made his debut for the club against Whitehaven.
Although signed in 2020 the 30 year old was injured at the start of last season. Then the Coronavirus pandemic hit and so he hasn’t been able to make his debut until now.
On making his debut he said: “I waited a long time for that moment, I had been out two years with injuries and only played seven games in four years. So I was nervous but very excited.
“It was like I was making my debut again as a kid. I was that excited I couldn’t hold it in really.
“When I walked in the dressing room and saw my shirt I was just taking photos. I asked Chilly to take a picture of me with my shirt. It was a special moment for me that meant a lot.
“I had some nice messages sent to me afterwards which was great.
“I’m looking forward to getting out there again and hopefully I’ll play against Widnes. I just want to do well for Dewsbury and now I have the love back for the game I just want to crack on and play.”
