Dewsbury Rams centre Matty Fleming was very pleased to get on the score sheet twice last Saturday.
Fleming grabbed two tries in our first Betfred Championship fixture at home to Whitehaven.
On scoring both tries he said: “It is always nice to get over the line and score and get off the nudey but I was just happy to contribute to a good team win. That was the most important thing.”
It was important the Rams got off to a good start and Fleming was ecstatic regarding the team getting the victory.
He said: “I thought it was a great start to the season. However I still think there is a lot for us to work on
“It was important to win this one after we played so badly in the cup game. We felt like we owed them one.
“Everyone was buzzing to be honest. After being out for so long it was nice to get that first win and build some confidence.”
Fleming thinks the team can definitely go to Widnes and challenge for another two points. He does think it may take a few games for the new players to fully gel with the team.
“We have quite a lot of new players this year and it will just take time to get those partnerships going.
“We can’t wait to get back out there and try to back this win up against a good Widnes side.”
