Dewsbury Rams head coach Lee Greenwood has give his thoughts following our win over Whitehaven on Saturday.
Dewsbury came out as victors beating the Cumbrian club 17-8 on the night.
After the game he said: “It was a really tough fixture. Anyone who plays Whitehaven will need to be right on their game to beat them.
“We knew we needed to improve after the defeat in the cup. We have improved but we know there is loads more to get better at.
“It’s game one and to get a win no matter how we got it was important.
“I was most impressed with how we didn’t get sucked in to making errors and arguing about how the game is policed. We talked about that this week, the fact we’ll come up against different sides who will either play the ball quicker or slower and also how different referees will rule what’s going on within tackles.
“I thought we had a really good patch in the second half where we started to get on top of them.
“This was a scrap for the win, we knew Whitehaven had improved as a team. We can be under no illusions that it will be like this every week, the Championship is a very tough division.
Sam Day’s try was important before half time and I thought both of Flem’s tries were taken well.
“Overall I am very pleased we got the win and now we can work on things going into the Widnes game.”
