Dewsbury Rams Frazer Morris insists the team is ready to put some wrongs right after being dumped out of the cup.
Dewsbury were knocked out of the first round of the Challenge Cup two weeks ago by Whitehaven.
The Cumbrian club happen to be Dewsbury’s first opponents in the Betfred Championship opening weekend. Morris believes it’s a good opportunity for us to get some early points on the board.
He said: “As a group we know we can perform much better than the first time we clashed against Whitehaven. So we’ve been tough on each other these past two weeks at training and are ready to put a big performance in.
“It doesn’t matter who we have recently played against and lost to. We know individually and as a group what we need to do to be better next time.”
Morris revealed that training has been intense and that the lads are ready to go on and try to win on Saturday.
“Training has been intense and the coaches have put it in our own hands. We have our individual skills that we know we need to work on.”
The former Fax man is excited to get his third Championship season kicked off at the Tetley’s Stadium. Having joined in 2019, Morris has been one of the most consistent performers in the team.
He said: “I am very excited to start the league off, and hopefully it’ll be with a win. We want to try and get off to a good start like we did last season and put that first game behind us.
“We expect Whitehaven to come out firing. They have some big lads, but we know we have to look after that ball and hopefully we’ll be able to get them onto the back foot and get that first league win.”
