Dewsbury Rams were knocked out of the first round of the Challenge Cup. Defeated 23-16 by Whitehaven up in Cumbria on Saturday evening.
Head coach Lee Greenwood gave his reaction to the disappointing loss.
He said: “The performance was awful and the result was not what we wanted obviously. There were so many uncharacteristic mistakes from lots of players. There aren’t really any positives to take.
“It was poor, we were soft in places, no composure and there were so many dropped balls.
“There are two weeks now where lads can fight to get into this team. Some players must improve and we might look to strengthen the team in some areas.
“There were far too many dropped balls for us to win the game for sure. We must improve starting in two weeks against the same opposition we have just lost to.
“I’m hoping it’s just a one off, we need to learn from this disappointment.
“Good luck to Whitehaven, they look stronger than what they did last year. They look like they have a real togetherness and they are a physical side.
“I know, the coaching staff know and the lads know we need to learn from this, move on and drastically improve before our next game.”
