Dewsbury Rams yesterday announced the re-signing of Sonny Esslemont.
The 26 year old loose-forward signed for the club in 2020 and made an instant impression. Having previously played for the Sheffield Eagles. Esslemont knows the Betfred Championship inside and out.
On him staying at the Rams, Esslemont said: “I really enjoyed the start of the season which made it an easy decision to make.
“Also when I spoke to Lee (Greenwood) he said we are keeping most of the 2020 squad plus bringing in some more quality players.”
Esslemont is excited at the prospect of training and playing again.
“I’m looking forward to getting back to it now with the boys.
“If last seasons pre-season is anything to go by I know it will be tough but that’s what we need if we are to push hard for the plays off.”
One thing Esslemont has enjoyed since arriving at the club is the way the Rams faithful tried to create a positive and welcoming atmosphere to new players.
He commented: “We need to take the atmosphere and buzz around the place into next year and I know we won’t be far off.
“To the Rams fans I hope everyone is safe and well during these worrying times. It won’t be long now untill we are all back at the Tetley’s Stadium watching the Rams win.”
