Thornton joins Rams

Dewsbury Rams are delighted to announce that 24 year old front row/back-rower James Thornton has joined the club on a one year deal.

The young forward has risen up the game quickly and has had previous spells at Hemel Stags, Featherstone Rovers and Sheffield Eagles.

The Dewsbury born, Bradford Bulls academy product joined the Hemel Stags for his first move in the sport. After impressing in the League One side he got a move to Championship team Featherstone. Unfortunately Thornton suffered an ACL injury whilst there. However he made a full recovery and left Rovers to join the Eagles. He has now swapped South Yorkshire for West Yorkshire by joining the Rams.

On signing the exciting young local forward head coach Lee Greenwood said: “James could be an interesting signing for us. He is a Dewsbury lad so will be keen to make it work here. H

“He has come for an opportunity to impress and see what happens, which I like. He knows there is competition for places in our pack but is happy to try force his way in.”
