Rams suffer heavy defeat at FLAIR Stadium to York Knights.
After a weekend break for the Challenge Cup Final, the Rams were back in action against York Knights at FLAIR Stadium.
It was a solid start for both sides but it was the visitors who scored the first points of the game through Bradley Ward after an acrobatic leap in the corner. Ata Hingano then added to the visitors’ tally after intercepting a loose Rams’ pass out wide.
Joe Brown then scored a double for York before the break, firstly he beat several Dewsbury defenders to score in the corner and moments later Brown picked up a loose pass to score the Knights’ fourth try of the half.
York got the first points of the second half after Jimmy Keinhorst somehow managed to get the ball down after a kick to the corner caused trouble and Ata Hingano added his second of the afternoon shortly after.
With just five minutes remaining, York added two more scores through Jordan Thompson and then Ukuma Taai on the hooter.
After the game, Head Coach Paul March said, “I’m very disappointed with the performance today, what’s got us through the last four weeks wasn’t there today.”
It’s a trip to Cumbria next up for the Rams on Sunday afternoon (15:00) to face Whitehaven RLFC at the Ortus Rec.
