FINN’S THOUGHTS AHEAD OF HALIFAX

Head Coach Liam Finn has given his thoughts ahead of Sunday’s Betfred Championship clash against Halifax.

Reflecting on our last game against Bradford, Finn said “I thought the score line was very disappointing and harsh, but when things are going against you, they really do go against you. We’ve got to create our own luck sometimes and you get that through hard work, which I thought the lads showed on Sunday.”

Looking at the squad selected for this weekend “Ben Mathiou is in the squad for this weekend, unfortunately he couldn’t play last week as there were some paperwork issues, but I’m excited to see what he can do. Elliot Hall is back competing for a place as he couldn’t play against his parent club last weekend.”

“Jackson Walker’s back in the squad again after his debut last weekend and I know he’s chomping at the bit to get out there again. He did everything and more that we asked of him last week, his challenge now is to keep up that consistency in training and in games to be challenging for a regular place.”

Speaking on injuries within the squad “Adam Ryder’s waiting for a scan on his knee, at the moment we’re unsure of the severity of the injury but we’re hoping for the best on that. Dale Ferguson is back in non-contact sessions as he steps up the intensity of his training, we’ve got to wait to see how that goes and check in with the specialist at each stage of his progress, unfortunately we don’t have a timescale of how long this might take. Chris Annakin is on the same route back as Fergie, but slightly behind as we’re waiting for feedback from the specialists.”

Finally on our opposition “Halifax are a very strong Championship team across the board, they’ve been one of the standout teams bar Featherstone and Leigh. They’ve got some quality players and they’re in good form, it’ll be a good challenge for us to see how far we’ve progressed and see how the players have taken to mine and Casper’s (Tony Smith) training methods.”
