McGrath joins Rams on loan for a month

Dewsbury Rams can confirm that they have signed Halifax winger Conor Mcgrath on a one month loan deal.

McGrath a pacey winger had a short spell at fellow Championship club York City Knights on loan. An injury meant he recovered back at Halifax. He is now fully fit and raring to get playing.

The former academy product now 22 years of age burst onto the scene in 2017. He has since grown in confidence and played under Richard Marshall and Simon Grix.

Rams head coach Lee Greenwood was pleased to be able to bring the talented winger in.

He said: “We had no real wingers this week bar one, and so I have been looking around for one this week to be able to come in and cover that position. I wanted to find someone who I knew could play at this level and Conor is a guy who can.

“He had a short stint at York on loan but got injured, Halifax and Simon Grix rate him quite highly there and have already signed him on for next season. So it sort of works for both parties, it gives Conor a chance to play some games at this level, it works for us because we would have had to move someone to the wing who isn’t natural there. Conor is excited for it, he could have gone to Toronto this weekend for a bit of a holiday and not play and be a part of a trip, but he was adamant that he wanted to come and play for us and take that chance which is fair play to him. He has some pace about him, and so he’ll replace Gabriel nicely this week and then we’ll take things from there, see how he performs and review it.”
