Toby meets Rams heroes

On Wednesday evening Shaw Cross under 12’s player Toby met his Dewsbury Rams heroes Kyle Trout and Martyn Reilly.

It wasn’t the first time the youngster had met the Dewsbury players as he was one of the children who had taken part in the club’s new scheme the Rampage Club.

Toby attended the Rampage Club with his other Shaw Cross Sharks teammates. The group on the Monday night was shown around the ground and was led in a free training session put on by first team players Trout and Reilly.

A few week’s later, Toby’s mum Amy visited the ground to buy her son a Rams junior replica shirt. Amy informed us that Toby wanted the shirt for his birthday and since coming to the Rampage Club he had been to the majority of Dewsbury home games.

What made the conversation even more interesting was the fact that Toby was an avid Leeds Rhinos supporter. However since taking part in the Rampage Club he has seemingly switched teams and is now backing the Rams.

Rams media manager Steven Downes said: “It was fantastic to have Toby down on Wednesday to meet Martyn and Kyle. He is a credit to his mum and to Shaw Cross.

“This is one of the impacts we wanted the Rampage Club to produce. Getting young people into supporting the Rams. There is nothing wrong with supporting a Super League side, but we think it is fantastic that Toby and many other young people choose to come and watch the team at the Tetley’s stadium. We look forward to seeing Toby and his family down at the stadium for future games.”
