Destination Dewsbury

Dewsbury Rams are excited to be working in partnership with the film Destination Dewsbury; many supporters may have seen the new trailer that has come out advertising for a film set in Dewsbury.

Well this film will be hitting the cinema screens on Saturday 23rd February, the premiere is to be held at Birstall’s Showcase Cinema and then for general release across the country on Thursday March 1st.

The director of the film Jack Spring has connections to the town and has been extremely delighted with the way local people and the area has taken to him and everyone connected with the film. The film is about four schoolmates returning to the town they once grew up in, a gritty British comedy that should have all the laughs and giggles that a true British comedy film should have, only this time it will be showing off the town of Dewsbury.

Spring said about the film and local area: “We’re really excited about the premiere and the cinema is showing various screenings, such was the demand for tickets for the premiere, which is testament to how the local people have really got behind the film.

“Showcase Cinemas are also doing more screenings once it goes on general release from the 1st March, so everything from our perspective is going superbly.

“On the night we will have a red carpet and the press will be taking photographs and such and we will have some local luminaries in attendance as well so it should be a real occasion.

“Obviously, I’m really proud of the film and I hope the fact it makes people laugh will encourage more people to go and see it. The folk around here have a great sense of humour and I think that the film will appeal to lots of different types of people.

“We also want people to get involved on social media, tell us on Facebook and Instagram what you think! We’re so happy with what the final movie looks like and I hope people around here have as much fun watching it as we’ve had making it.

“I can’t speak highly enough of the place; we shot in pubs and cafes while locals were actually in there. We had locals cheering once we were happy with the take, I think it’s the people who really make the area, and on a limited budget, like we were, having people be so co-operative and helpful was absolutely vital.”
