Andrade delighted to score first try

Dewsbury Rams Jordan Andrade was delighted to score his first Rams try last Saturday in the Yorkshire Cup victory over Featherstone Rovers.

Andrade who has impressed in his performances so far was pleased to get off the mark with a try in front of the home fans.

He said on his try and win over Featherstone: “To get the win was a great feeling, even though it’s a pre-season ‘friendly’ everybody wants to win and especially now it’s this new Yorkshire cup style competition, it gives everyone something to aim for.

“I’m really liking this Yorkshire cup competition they have going, it gives the friendlies meaning and bragging rights of Yorkshire is something any team involved would love to have hold of. “

On scoring his first try in a Rams shirt, he commented: “To get a try is always good for any player especially a prop as it’s rare! But yeah my friends and family here there too to see my first Dewsbury try, which is amazing. It was a well worked team try finished off by me steaming over from about all of 2 metres.”

On whether the team can go all the way to the final, Andrade insists the players are just taking games one at a time.

He said: “I don’t think the boys are thinking about the final for now, it’s all week by week rugby for us and making improvements is our main focus! To go up to Odsal and put together what we work on in training is the main goal and we all know if we play as good as we can then there is no reason why we won’t be there in the final.”
