Ryder ready to do battle at Batley

Dewsbury Rams centre Adam Ryder is ready to face rivals Batley Bulldogs on Boxing Day.

The Rams take on their closest neighbours on Boxing Day at 12pm at Batley.

On the upcoming game Ryder said: “I can’t wait to start playing now. We have been working hard for 5+ weeks now and so I am looking forward to putting the work into a game.

“It’s going to give Lee (Greenwood) a good idea of where people are at and maybe a few of the new lads. However it is only the first run out after only being together as a squad for 5 weeks and I believe the potential we have got is massive and hopefully the fans will get to see that.”

On how pre-season has gone Ryder continued: “Pre season has gone really well. I know everyone says this but it has been one of the toughest ones I have done.

“There is plenty of competition for places and also the way they have done pre season this year it gives you an incentive to push yourself a bit more every session.”

The Rams have had a new element to add to their pre-season preparation this year as the club’s dedicated volunteers helped set up the new gym and wrestle room.

Finally Ryder believes the new facilities will help the team in their bid to not only win on boxing day but to do well throughout the season.

He said: “The gym and wrestle room have been fantastic. The wrestle room has allowed us to work on the technical side of defense that some lads won’t have done before. The gym has got about 4 times bigger and Mitch has put some good sessions on for us.”
