Brown is back at the Rams

Dewsbury Rams can announce that we have signed experienced winger Alex Brown for the 2019 season.

Brown who had a stint at the club back in 2017 was delighted to get a call off of head coach Lee Greenwood asking him to sign back with the club.

On that call and returning to the club, the 31 year old said: “It was Lee Greenwood that tempted me to sign back at the club.

“He asked me whether I would like to come down to the club and try to battle to win a shirt. I told him why not.

“He told me he wants to bring real competition to the team and bring a good ethos to everything and that is perfect for me, so I said I would come on board.”

Brown knows Greenwood from his time at Batley Bulldogs and so knows what the head coach expects.

He said: “I have played with Lee back in his Batley days so I know what he is like, he said he wants to build a team that is going to be competitive in every game.

“He said that whilst he hadn’t heard my name being mentioned in the last couple of years, that if I work hard and have a good pre-season it could be good here.

“I was buzzing when he said that and I just told him I was on board with him and said i would sign.”

On his new signing Greenwood commented: “Aex could be a great signing for us, he knows this is a good opportunity to try get back to his best.

“After helping Jamaica qualify for the 2021 World Cup, hopefully his love for the game has returned. When Alex is enjoying his rugby he can be one of the best wingers at this level.”
