Worrincy pleased to get the victory over former club

Dewsbury Rams winger Rob Worrincy was pleased to get the win on Friday night over his former team.

The 33 year old has played for the Eagles in three separate stints totaling over 100 appearances for the club.

On the 30-20 victory on Friday evening he said: “The win was important and was great to get the result having come away from there recently having narrowly missing out on a result.

“It is always nice getting a win but for me getting it against a former club doesn’t make it sweeter. There might be a little more at stake for me personally, but the result gives the same 2 points as it would against anyone else.”

Worrincy has had a difficult season and has to spend much of it in recovery having suffered a long term injury. However the experienced player was pleased to get back out onto the pitch on Friday night.

He continued: “Injuries are part and parcel of a high impact sport like rugby league. It’s a tough period of time when you’re not able to do what you enjoy and can’t contribute to the squad.

Getting back out there was something I had to work really hard at with the support of Amy and Mitch. I was pleased to get back out there again.”

Finally Worrincy spoke about the coming up next Sunday. The Rams will take on Barrow Raiders in what will again be a tough Championship Shield fixture.

On the upcoming game, Worrincy said: “Barrow are a tough side to play and will be smarting from recent results. We recently pipped them to the post so it’s important that we focus on playing to our strengths and sticking to the game plan.

“Hopefully we can gain another valuable two points and back up the performance against Sheffield.”
