Supporters Direct Community Champion Award

To celebrate the important role that fans play, Supporters Direct are proud to announce the continuation of the Supporters Direct Community Champion Award in association with the Rugby Football League (RFL). The award will be presented at the Betfred Championship and League 1 Gala Dinner to be held in September.

Supporters Direct are looking for fans that go above and beyond the call of duty this season, those who support their team through adversity or work to benefit the community and this year we have started our search early after the overwhelming amount of entries we received for the 2017 award.

The 2018 SD Rugby League Community Champion and their guest will be invited to attend the gala dinner at the prestigious Principle Hotel in Manchester and will be presented with their award in front of a star-studded audience.

Last year’s winner, Ray Abbey was a worthy one, nominated many times over from all corners of the game. Not only did Ray prove to be a magnificent ambassador for the sport, but also for the many community projects he willingly gives his limited spare time to.  A true gentleman, respected throughout Rugby League, who thoroughly deserved to be honoured with the award.

Rugby Football League Chief Executive, Ralph Rimmer said: “It’s fantastic that once again Supporters Direct will be acknowledging one of our brilliant fans for their commitment to our great sport. It is always a special evening celebrating all that Betfred Championship and League 1 have to offer and the Supporters Direct Community Champion Award is always extremely well deserved.”

So do you know an unsung hero tucked away at the back of the bleachers who deserves some long overdue recognition for the work they do for your club, the community and the game?
